What Are The Core Beliefs Of

Cornwall's #1
Running Pain Expert Lou Nicholettos?

These are the core beliefs that my team and I follow in our clinic, Cornwall Physio. Our methods can get you back to pain-free exercise, an uninterrupted night’s sleep, and being able to enjoy an active life.

After working with thousands of runners with injuries, Lou Nicholettos knows what is really important and often missed by other clinicians.

BELIEF #1 – IT'S CRUCIAL TO FIND THE INJURY'S ROOT CAUSE
First of all, it is crucial to look at the root cause and understand why a person is experiencing pain. Sometimes a runner’s injury, although worsened by running, is not necessarily caused by running. Other times, the issue is very specific to their running. In such cases, it is important to see how they are running, moving and what their posture is like. Lou uses 3D equipment to measure the forces going through each of their joints and the left and right sides of the body, creating a comprehensive picture of why they are experiencing the problem. It is essential to treat the “why” and not just the “what” and that is a core belief for Lou.
BELIEF #2 – IT'S NECESSARY TO LOOK AT THE BODY AS A WHOLE
Another common issue she sees with the clinicians she mentors is a total disregard for the central nervous system, the brain, and the lower back. Many runners have issues in these areas without even knowing it. Other clinicians might treat muscles and blame things on issues like a tight piriformis muscle, but it is necessary to look at the bigger picture to determine the actual cause of the problem. Lou Nicholettos loves to provide people with an exceptional treatment experience, aiming for them to feel empowered and equipped to look after their health and well-being. She is passionate about creating an environment where individuals feel supported and encouraged to make positive improvements to their lives and their performances in sports.
BELIEF #3 – ADDRESSING SYMPTOMS ALINE IS NOT ENOUGH
Another strong belief she holds is that addressing symptoms alone is not providing complete care for a patient as the root cause of the injury has not been fully addressed. Instead of merely alleviating pain or discomfort temporarily, Lou is committed to delving deeper into underlying factors contributing to the injury. Whether it’s biomechanical imbalances, muscle weaknesses, or lifestyle factors, she can implement targeted treatment techniques that not only address the immediate symptoms but also prevent recurrence and promote long-term healing.
